This makes missions feel much more streamlined and exciting, letting you continuously churn out units instead of waiting around for your production facilities to pump out soldiers.
The other major improvement to the story missions comes in the form of Kerrigan herself, who now acts as an almighty spell-casting hero unit that imbues a sense of continuity into the overall campaign.

Anything from the early days – a philosophy of design, or an approach to updates – that got thrown out as time went on? Matt Morris: There are several things that I can think of that changed over time. In Wings of Liberty, the campaign mission mechanics were built around introducing new units. The mission was built around these units being very effective against large swarm of Zerglings.

Oh, and people who own Wings of Liberty but skipped Heart of the Swarm will be able to get that Zergy instalment free — if they claim it in time. Free SC2, eh? There are, of course, restrictions. Presumably to block cheaters, smurfs and other undesirables, ranked matchmaking will be locked until an account has won ten games on separate days in unranked play or against the AI. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty review
We haven’t run into any problems finding matches quickly, and because of StarCraft’s popularity we wonder if we ever will. We found ourselves regularly matched against players of equal skill once we got a few games under our belt. The Zerg are still all about numbers, the Protoss still sport strong but expensive units, and the Terran still support their troops with lots of tanks and ships.
Instead, they’ve refined and polished everything to the point of perfection. Play matches in the lower level multiplayer leagues, and you can get away with easy wins using cheap tactics, like Zergling or Zealot rushes or skipping up the tech tree to air units. Every unit or tactic has a vulnerability.
That mode does not apply co-op achievements, even in versus A. The co-op for StarCraft II is, simply put, comp stomp. This particular comp-stomp does add a few nice elements that those of use who appreciate co-op will love. First, you can share Minerals or Vespine gas to help each other out. Blizzard is also a company that is very fond of keeping their games fresh and new.
This is an encouraging element for those of us experiencing a few issues, and we actually appreciate that more than condemn them for it. For parents that would like their kids to enjoy the StarCraft they experienced 12 years ago, but are worried about the shmucks of the internet misbehaving, there are also violence and language filters. Perfect for any wary parent, but they are also optional for those of us that enjoy our games as they were made: full of violence and gooey gory Zerg. The multiplayer gameplay in both modes in general seems a bit gimped compared to the main game.
This feels a bit odd, especially in co-op it would be especially co-opish if healers healed ALL friendly units, as well.
